Moving Out!

Phew!
Moving can be so stressful - especially when it is to another continent!  Today the movers arrived took all our extra clothes and household goods.  We will see them again (hopefully) within 2 months.  Now we have two suitcases and a carry-on each worth of items until then.  Thank goodness for Lending Closets!  The weirdest part about getting your stuff moved by the Army is that they actually pack your goods for you.  It's an odd feeling seeing all your possessions sorted, wrapped, and packed away by others.  I wanted to help out, but it was their policy to do it for us.  I am just glad we were able to get them to come before we moved.  There was a mistake on our paperwork that was going to make it so they couldn't come in time.  That would have meant getting a storage unit, more paperwork, and finding someone willing to be there when the movers came.  Luckily, everything seemed to work out.

Tonight is our last night in El Paso.  We are happy to be moving, but it always feels strange leaving a place where you have spent so much time.  We are going to spend some time with our good friends, the Reeds, before we leave.  We'll miss you two!  Best of luck with everything! :)

Tomorrow is our final walk-through with our apartment complex manager.  After we pay for the damages (who doesn't end up putting a few holes in the wall? lol), we will be on our way to Dallas, Texas.  We have to drive to Dallas (over 11 hours away) to drop off our POV for shipment.  This will be our last weekend in the United States of America for a while, so we plan to live it up as much as possible!  This means that we will definitely be going to the Six Flags Over Texas spring opening!  Woohoo!

Then come Monday, we will be boarding the plane and heading out!  We have one short layover in Detroit, Michigan, and then overnight to Frankfurt, Germany.  This is my first time leaving the continent, so I am super excited!  I know it's a long flight...but we are flying over an ocean!!  Your prayers will be appreciated, especially for our wonderful pets, Arnold and Erin.

As a reminder, and for those who do not know, Ronnie and my cell phones will be on military suspension for the next 3 years as of tonight at midnight.  We will be getting new phones overseas, and when we do, we will post the new numbers online.  For now, the best way to reach me is either on facebook or by emailing me at grannysmith29@gmail.com.

We are both very excited for our new adventure, and we will keep you as updated as possible!  We still do not know exactly where we will be living in Europe, but when we know, I'll let you know! ;)

Much love to you all!

Creation of the Blog!

Hello Everyone!

As of now, we are still in El Paso, Texas, organizing and preparing for the move.  Ronnie's report date in Germany is March 10, 2011.  Currently, we are set to move to Hohenfels, a small town in the German state of Bavaria.  We are both very excited, and we are both pleased to be able to take our pets, Arnold and Erin, with us on this adventure.

We will be overseas for three years, so really the only question left is...when are you going to visit?

Your prayers are appreciated during this chaotic time.

We will certainly miss all our friends and family, but we will stay in touch!

Hugs and Smiles,
The Smiths
